My favourite genre of games, to say the least - are role-playing games, preferably action or story-rich. Or better, make it both. The best thing to do is to be distracted and immerse in something otherworldly, like fantasy!
Games are not just for the gameplay. Games are also an experience - a platform to develop immersive worlds and tell stories in ways no other storybook can.
A game is to distract a weary mind from harsh reality - a way to take one's mind off things they are otherwise bothered by. To do this is to maximize creativity, art direction and technology, engrossing players in another world.
